It is a hard thing when you lose a loved one. My Omi (grandma Gertrude Steilman), who passesd away peacefully last Thursday (11/12/20), was both the sweetest and strongest woman I know. She was always the pillar on which the Steilman family leaned. Her life was a life of duty and honor and unwavering devotion to her family, no matter the weather, no matter the season. She was always there to bring the family together for Christmas and Thanksgiving, luring us all with the finest foods lovingly prepared, but holding us there with an atmosphere of kindness carefully cultivated from her heart of pure love.
“BELOVED, LET US LOVE ONE ANOTHER: FOR LOVE IS OF GOD AND EVERY ONE WHO LOVES IS BORN OF GOD, AND KNOWS GOD.” (1 Jn. 4:7)
Omi loved like no other I have ever known. She was of God and she is now at peace with God: healthy, happy and shining as she watches over us from her new heavenly home. She led the family in love, even when some resisted. She taught us love and she was loved by us in return.
Omi was a great woman whose godly love was a precious gift that improved our world.
I love you Omi. You will always be remembered!
